Registration for Graduate Engineer
As stated by BEM in their website,
Any person who wants to take up employment as an engineer must be registered as a Graduate Engineer with BEM. BEM recognises the experience gained by an engineering graduate only after he has registered as a Graduate Engineer. As such, it is prudent for an engineering graduate to register as a Graduate Engineer at the very beginning of his engineering career.
It is not a common practice for engineers in Malaysia to register with BEM, as most of our engineers are not registered with this body especially the experience ones. Then, we can still practices our engineering skills and knowledge in the industry without being recognized by our own board of engineers.
However, we can gain some benefits by registering with the board. Some company requires their engineer recruits to register with BEM as there are projects which only allows registered engineers to participate. Registering as a Graduate Engineer also is starting step for us to persue Professional Engineer status or commonly known as IR engineer.
Thus, below are the step by step guide to register as a Graduate Engineer with BEM:
1. Read about the infos and requirements on registration for Graduate Engineer in BEM Website.
2. Open myBEM registration.
3. Register as new applicant.
4.Fills in the particular in the online form.
5. Make online payment Lembaga Jurutera Malaysia - Graduate Engineer.
6. After you have completed all sections in the online forms, print the completed Form A with the check list.
7. Send the completed online Form A, checklist and documents certified by an active and registered professional engineer (IR Engineer) related to your field of engineering, to the following address;

Note: You must send these documents within a month after you had submitted your online application.
8. The documents needed to be certified are:
- Copy of Identification Card (NRIC/Mykad).
- Certified True Copy of Degree
- Certified True Copy of Full Official Transcript or Details of Course and Subject Taken (from first year to final year).
- Certified True Copy of Diploma\Matriculoation and Full Transcript (if related)
9. Registration status can be check time from time at the BEM website. The process might take around 4 months to be completed and you will receive an acknowledgement letter from BEM after your registration process has fully completed.
